Corner knife?

So I see a corner knife at the store, and think cool I'll try it. Well I'm thinking it's for second coat and not for putting tape up. I'm thinking this because I do a better job with 4" knife putting up tape in corner.
So question is: is corner knife for tape or second coat application?

Corner knife?

Those are sold to everyone who has tried to tape drywall---

Even though they don't work worth a darn--the things still sell.

Millions of them tossed into the corner of shops all around the world.

Great money maker--lousy tool.

Corner knife?

its for second coat after you have already set your tape.
i have one and i learned how to use it and it took alot of time and i only use it on small jobs where i dont have time to go back and coat the other side of the corners.
i load both inside corners with a 4" knife then i take my corner knife and go down the corner. now the trick is the angle the knife needs to be held at and the amount of pressure put on the knife with the other hand. i find holding it at about 30degrees and push on both sides of the knife with one hand but putting equal pressure. then clean up what went on the outside of the knife with my 4" knife.
i only recommend using it on very small jobs where you dont want to come back for one or 2 corners but it takes lots of practice to get right. anything else and i say use a 4-6" knife for each side of the corner.

Iam with you mike i have done alot of taping and cant use one of those.Only time i will use one if its patch work and dont want to come back 3 or 4 time you can do both sides at once with hot mud and knock it out.Cause you should only fill 1 side at a time so your knife doesnt get in the wet side.

Corner knife?

Thanks guys
I may give it a try on second coat. Then again it may end up in corner of garage, because I return to this "job" every day after work!
No place like home.
