Color Matching unpainted drywall ceiling
I need to do some minor repairs to some places in ceiling of my house. The problem is that it is unpainted texture, put up using an oval stiple brush. I have a thinned drywall mix I used to put up a texture in a basement bathroom, but when I tested in an small area in the garage it appears to be a little bit whiter. Is there a good way to try to make a mix that will better match the shade a little better? I would just paint the ceiling after fixing but living room, kitchen, dining room, the foyer, and a hallway all connect with no break in the ceiling, so that is alot of space to paint and funiture and floor to cover. So are there any tricks so that the repair spot doesnt draw attention and make it obvious there is something wrong?

bite the bullet and paint it all. there is no other way to match it, and you will be happier with the job after.

Unfortunately different joint compounds dry different colors and even if you have the exact same kind, your ceilings have "yellowed" or "dulled" with age. The "never-ending ceiling" makes it necessary to paint it all, unless you can just make a straight stopping line (masking tape) in a narrow spot in a hallway, if there is one. The transition will be less noticeable. But as stated above, you're best off painting it all.
