Bubbling Durabond?

Some I've never had any problems with Durabond before but I'm working on an old house and its causing me problems. The house had multiple layers of wallpaper that I removed and under that was some kind of bluegreenish paint which I assume to be lead. The wallpaper removal chipped large areas of the lead paint but I used a scrapper to remove any loose paint.

As I apply Durabond, everything looks great and its smooth. However, an house after it starts to bubble. I let it harden all the way and pryed off the bubbles. The adhesion between durabond and lead paint was excellent as it pulled the paint off in the bubbles. However, it seems to be making the lead paint bubble as it cures? Any ideas why? Do I need to remove the lead paint before plastering? I was planning to skim over the walls with Durabond but it seems to be making these air bubbles everywhere as it cures.

You probably did not get all the paste removed.
Prime with Gardz before skimming or totally remove ALL paste.

Durabond has a tendency to bubble, especially when applied over a painted surface (gloss paint just makes it worse). Just lightly sand after it dries and pull a "tight" skim with ready mix to foll the voids. May need two coats.....
