I started another honey do list on the bathroom. I am trying to remove old caulk and did well on top of the shower but the gap looks like a 1/4 size crack between the drywall and the shower. Is there anything special I should do since the crack is larger than normal? Should I just keep filling it in until it is flush with the wall and shower? Also is there a way to remove off the daywall? Thanks for your help
in the gap install a backer rod (foam dowel material) then caulk with silicone caulk. Soften the old caulking with acetone then use a 5 in 1 tool to remove it. Use a sharp scraper on the drywall to remove it. then patch drywall if needed with compound.
Bob's advice is correct. The drywall should not come in direct contact with the shower unit as it will "wick" water/moisture and deteriorate over time (hence the 1/4" gap). Your drywall was installed correctly....
