basement drywall

Finished framing and insulating my basement family room. Ready to purchase drywall and was wondering what type to buy for my walls, the ceiling is done.

1/2" for the walls----largest sheet that you can get down the stairs.--

And use Moisture/mold resistant board. Any future moisture, water problems will be much easier to deal with.

If your basement is dry, I'd say use regular 1/2"....

Second this. I had to use 8 foot sheets which means many more butt joints :(

If hang vertical like I do then just use 8'. I like working with just factory joints. Just my $.02 worth
