Basement Ceiling Sollutions...1/2" or 5/8"

Hello,

I am planning a basement reno. I have a few questions.

-In Ontario Canada is 5/8" code on basement ceilings?

-I am going to use ROXUL safe n sound however am also cosidering the use of resiliant channels for sound dampening. There will not be a home theatre or anything, but want the sound drop.

What combination of soundproof insulation, resiliant channel, 1/2 or 5/8" drywall would you recomend?

Thanks

Dave

P.S. Would be advantagous not to use the resiliant channel as our ceiling are already low enough.
