Adding Texture to Ceiling

I know...not another one of these posts. I've searched this site, and searched the internet like crazy but couldn't find an answer and my head is about to explode.

What level of finish do I need to do to the ceiling before adding texture to it? Was thinking level 2 would be sufficient, but don't want to see the seams after I've added it...

Thanks for the help!

Thanks. Was thinking that I could get away with that.

I know there's quite a debate about priming before...so I won't ask that question and open up a can of worms.

If you check more on this site and about any DIY site you will see hundreds of people asking how to remove texture and almost no one asking how to apply it.

Next to imposable to clean, hard to paint. very hard to ever do any patches if there's ever a leak or any damage.
But it's your house.

I realize that, but the wife wants the ceilings to match the rest of the house...tried to reason with her to no avail!

Good news! Worked on the wife enough that we are now painting the ceiling vs spraying texture!

Normally in new construction it's tape, bed coat ant texture. USUALLY does a good enough job. Glad you decided to go slick....
