Laminating Surfboard Fiberglass

Alright, so here we go, we have some laminating resin and a brush, and like I said, what I use is I use the UV agent that we just mix into the resin, and instead of having to use catalysts and wait for it, you know you measure it out perfectly ,5 cc's for this much, this is a no-brainer, I mean, they sell it at surf shops, you can buy it at surf shops, utilize the materials that are here nowadays. So I'll come over here and get a nice little healthy portion onto my brush and you just brush it right on, just like that. And that should be plenty because what I'll do is then come over here and grab my squeegee, I usually keep these in the acetone, and this is actually a nice squeegee that we use to laminate the new surfboards here as well. So what we'll do is just kind of, you tilt it over to the side a little bit, and you just want to move that resin around, and really saturate the fiberglass. See the difference? Here it's saturated, here it isn't, so you want to make all those grits of the fiberglass just disappear and then that way you don't want too much resin because what will happen is the fiberglass will float on top of the surface, and you don't want that. So here we'll just kind of laminate the fiberglass, get it all spread out, keep it all inside of that prepped area. If it's not, when you go to sand it, that fiberglass will start ripping up. So now that it's laminated, what we'll do is we'll just clean our hands and we'll set it out in the sun and that UV sun will actually cure the resin and then we'll be able to put the sanding coat on which is the second coat.
