Credit in Speed Boat Buying

Credit is very important when you're buying a luxury item because not everyone can get one, so the bank's, it's not like buying a house or a car. It's actually even harder yet to buy a boat than a house or a car, and the reason why is is because banks figure if anything is going to happen financially, your boat's going to be your first thing--or your RV, or your motorcycle--you have to have a house and you have to have a car. So when they look at this, they look for obviously the better credit you have, seven hundred plus FICA scores is automatically usually approval for the lowest rates. Someone that has had credit problems in the past might have to have explanations or put some more money down to actually still make the purchase, but there's a lot of different lenders we offer out there. We've got A1 lenders, we have credit unions, and it can go up from there. You're interest rates can go from seven percent all the way up to twenty-one percent, so it all depends on the customer. Some of the common mistakes we're finding when people purchase a speedboat is they get so excited that they actually can get a boat or found the one they think they love, they purchase it and get it out on the water, they didn't do any research, and they're finding out that they spent way too much money for the quality of the boat they got, or they bought a boat way too small for what they were looking to do. So the more research you do and the more research on the Internet, dealers, pricing, get in and out of the boat. Another thing you want to do is actually make sure the dealership is willing to take you out on the water and test drive that boat you're looking to purchase. If you can get on the water and test drive it, you can find out how it's really going to feel once you get in the water. If you were just to purchase it and tow it down the highway and then put it in the water the first time, you might be unhappy with your decision you made. So, you want to find some dealerships that are willing to take the extra time and do that for you.
