Moving Dirt!

Posted 08-19-2010 at 10:49 PM by cebeling

Hi All,

As suspected I had a brief lull on my posts. I've made some progress and we have recently made big strides.

Over the past week and a half I pulled all of the kitchen cabinet doors and drawer fronts from the house. (54!) I spent most of the weekend getting things prepped for paint and primed 1 side of everything Tuesday night. I'm using a Pittsburg Paint acrylic primer, and seem to have good results so far. Fuji Q3 HVLP spray gun. Tomorrow night I'll prime the raised panel side. My garage is pretty clean and looks like a paint booth/drying zone.

In the mean time, they have made great progress on the actual construction of the house....with one hiccup. Black dirt was stripped and excavation started earlier in the week. Yesterday the plumbers and excavators showed up to locate the water and sanitary sewer. I stopped out over lunch to find the entire east side of our lot dug up and no sewer trench to show for it. They ended up snaking a fiber optic camera down 2 different sewer lines and found it on the WEST side of the lot running off a different line. The plat map was 100% wrong, showing it on the wrong side, and wrong main line. Once they found it they made pretty quick work of it, finishing up this morning and getting going on the basement excavation. Concrete guys will be there in the morning to lay the footings and should have wet concrete by tomorrow night.

It's definitely GREAT to see dirt being moved. We are looking pretty good for schedule. The house will be moved to the lot the wednesday after labor day so stay tuned for some pics and probably a youtube video of the house move.

Off to bed!

Chris
