220v to complete rough-in

Posted 03-22-2010 at 11:14 AM by ChrisDIY (Chris the DIY guy vs. "The Ranch")

Everything is completed except the two 220v lines for the cooktop and the oven. Had to call GE to clarify location of power. After discussing it with them it has been simplified so will proceed. After this is complete will take picture before I close wall up after I apply fire stop. Will need to finish hall bath demolition beforehand so will be starting on that tonight.

Frustrating day yesterday...

Posted 03-19-2010 at 10:11 AM by ChrisDIY (Chris the DIY guy vs. "The Ranch")

On the other hand they carry 6" round for $7 per 5' section. No brainer right! However, Lowe's does not have a 6" wall cap. Trying to save money I buy the 6" round and plan to hit Home Depot on the way home. I leave work and go to Home Depot. Home Depot doesn't carry Broan anymore and the 6" wall cap they have is...

Don't go by what's on the breaker panel sticker...

...when you buy an existing home.

Completed the bulk of the ceiling painting tonight! Will need to touch up areas in bright sunlight, its Springtime, I hope that won't be this Summer .

Put in the ceiling lights so I can touch up the paint around them. Went back in the basement and turned the breaker back on, no light???

The only other breaker off is the one labeled dishwasher & disposal; which are not supposed to be on the same circuit BTW. I switch...

Kitchen Cabinets are GONE!!!

Posted 03-11-2010 at 02:13 PM by ChrisDIY (Chris the DIY guy vs. "The Ranch")

I have successfully removed all the old cabinets and have begun working on the layout of all the new electrical. I am waiting to take delivery of the built in microwave oven so I can rough in the exhaust vent. Once this is complete then the electrical can be finished. Afterwards can start of tearing out the old floor and completely removing the hall bath to the studs!

Just when you thought...

Posted 03-01-2010 at 08:51 PM by ChrisDIY (Chris the DIY guy vs. "The Ranch")

you had something finished along comes another problem. Spent this evening connecting the cold water supply to the new kitchen rough-in. This went very well. While doing my leak test I started seeing water coming from around the pipe leading to the hall bathroom, Oh no! Low and behold the P-trap is leaking badly! Never ran this sink longer than the time it takes to wash out a paint brush...

So now the hall bath demo has been moved up since I am not going to replace the trap when...
